2025 was a rollercoaster for me, as I know it was for many of you. Two recommended books have served me well this year. Liz Wiseman's Multipliers is a book I read earlier in my career, but revisited this year as a business owner. I had forgotten all the incredible insights in this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who is leading a team of any size.

The other book that I really enjoyed is The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Carlton Abrams. It brought me a lot of spiritual joy in a challenging year. Joy is central to Christmas, so what better time to give it a read?

Although not everyone works in the hospitality industry, we all interact with people and want to provide our customers with a positive experience. This book encouraged me to adopt a new perspective and stay resilient.
It also showed me that while tough decisions in business may not always benefit everyone, they will often serve the greater good for the business and ultimately, the people.

Humans hate ambiguity, so we tend to look for a quick answer, which can be to our detriment, and I thought this book had great insights on when we should pause and think more deeply for a better answer.

I spent years helping brands in luxury real estate stand out through client experience, and that’s what pulled me toward this book. It connects the “make people feel special” philosophy to real revenue growth, which is just as true in B2B as it is in luxury.
The author’s five-lever framework shows how small, intentional moments can build lasting loyalty. What stood out to me is how she flips the focus from selling to creating emotional connection and belonging. In real estate, that was always the secret: people remember how you made them feel. This book is a good reminder that the same idea applies to every business.

As lifelong learners, we know there’s still a lot we don’t know, even about ourselves. Growing Yourself Up is all about understanding what really drives our reactions in relationships and under pressure.
It helped me see why I could feel confident on paper, but still get in my head the moment I walked into a room with anyone deemed "important" or "cooler than me'. The tools in this book have been practical and easy to apply, both professionally and personally.

I’d recommend this book to any marketing team because it really changes how you think about creativity. Rick Rubin doesn’t talk about marketing or advertising directly, but what he says about staying open, curious, and trusting your instincts applies perfectly to what we do. It’s a good reminder that great ideas don’t always come from forcing them; they come from being present, paying attention, and creating space for inspiration.

I’ve personally implemented some of these frameworks in my creative process, which helped me strengthen my business mindset and make my work more strategic, measurable, and client-aligned. The lessons in this book can easily be adapted to any role or business context.

Drawing on her own powerful story as the daughter of a scientist who frequently noted her lack of “genius,” Duckworth, now a celebrated researcher and professor, describes her early eye-opening stints in teaching, business consulting, and neuroscience, which led to the hypothesis that what really drives success is not “genius” but a unique combination of passion and long-term perseverance.

I like any business book that reads less like a manual and more like a conversation with someone who really knows their stuff, and Drive is one of those books. It's a fun, easy read on what truly motivates people and gets them excited and doing their best work. Would be a great pick for anyone who wants to lead with empathy and get the best out of their people.

I'm admittedly not a huge reader, but this book was a real page turner for me - it's a story about the author's search to discover the truth about his father’s mysterious death. It's very well written - almost like a thiller novel. The author is currently the deputy editor at Air Mail, and beforehand was the deputy editor at GQ.

It's a great book about resiliency, overcoming grief and finding the happiness that is still out there for you! It reminds you that everyone is carrying hidden burdens and to be kind, always. Even in the midst of grief or troubles you never expected to have, you can rebuild and flourish again!
